2019 MVP, CY Young & Legend of the Year Named

Congrats to Legends team award winners for the 2019 season.

MVP Aharon Modlin  (Pepperdine)

Aharon was a mainstay and brought a tremendous amount of consistency to the team. He led the legends in games played, doubles, triples, while only striking out ten times in 117 at-bats.

Modlin hit .359 on the season with six home runs and 27 RBI. Modlin also had one of the best defensive seasons in Legends history, making flashy plays in the infield all summer long.

Cy Young Justin Yang (University of Redlands)

Justin brought a ton of stability and consistency to a pitching staff that was in search of it all summer. He threw 33 1/3 innings with a 2.70 ERA only surrendering ten earned runs, striking out 46 batters while walking 13.

Yang did whatever the Legends needed him to do on the mound. He started games, acted as a middle reliever, and closed games out. Yang finished 3-0 on the summer and registered two saves.

Legend of the Year - Steven Garber Award Mario Orosco (Regis University)

The Legend of the Year Award named after original member Steven Garber goes to the player that demonstrates high character throughout the summer.

The first baseman who is a rising senior Regis University tore his labrum in the third game of the summer and was unavailable to hit the rest of the year. With all the injuries to the Legends pitching staff, Mario decided to go back to his roots and help the Legends as a pitcher. Orosco had not pitched since his freshman year. He learned how to be a PO on the fly handled ups and downs with a tenacious mentality. Orosco worked hard and finished the summer with 19 innings pitched and a 3-1 record.

Without those 19 innings pitched the Legends summer could have taken a different turn.

Congratulations to these players for their outstanding performance this summer.
