The Unique Legends Environment

I was so pleased when a handful of players reached out to me over the last few weeks and told me that they were returning to play for Legends next summer. As many of you know, we had a very successful summer in the wins department, but the wins do not always show how successful a program is.

The environment of a program is more critical to the overall success than the wins in a given year. The team climate players and coaches create leads to sustainable success by creating both a culture and a high standard.

When players contacted me and told me they want to come back, that is evidence that our environment is top notch, it's more proof of success than the wins we had last summer.

At the moment Legends are returning  11 players from last year‘s championship team that went 42-12. The number of returning players will probably go up as we get closer to summer. Almost half the 2018 roster will return. These are players who can play anywhere in America, yet they choose to play for Legends. I can only give credit to the environment and culture.

Our culture is different. Our focus is different. We attack the game from a different angle. And our players seem to love it. The magic of the Legends is there are no players, coaches, no opposing teams, no leagues who are more significant than us. Our players play for us because they want to be a part of our culture, nothing else matters.

I have told every team since 2012 that we can go 50-0, or 0-50 this summer, it does not matter. As long as we are approaching the game at a professional level, developing a professional level routine, and gaining valuable experience the summer will be a success.

The magical part is if we focus on these smaller aspects of our individual growth, and we do it together, the wins come naturally.

We do not chase wins; we do not chase championships — the Legends chase self-discipline and professional level focus as individuals and hold each other accountable for it as a team.

Can you name another program that does it like that?

Can you name another program who will return almost half of the roster from last summer?

I am so happy to say with confidence that we are different. And when I get messages from players who want to come back, it tells me that we are doing the right things.

Stay tuned,
